Gangneung Station
As the primary railway station in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, Gangneung Station serves as a vital transportation hub, connecting the city to major destinations. Since its establishment in 1962, the station has played a crucial role in facilitating rail travel across the region. Its significance was further elevated with the introduction of the KTX Gyeonggang Line, a highspeed rail system developed in preparation for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. This addition has dramatically enhanced accessibility, allowing passengers to travel from Seoul to Gangneung in approximately two hours. The station also provides easy access to Gangneung’s iconic attractions, including Gyeongpodae Pavilion, Jeongdongjin and Ojukheon House.
In an effort to bridge art and the local community, Gangneung Station has partnered with the PharmaResearch Culture Foundation through an MOU agreement. As part of this festival,
the station is showcasing artworks, transforming it into a space where daily commutes and artistic encounters intertwine. This initiative not only makes art more accessible to the public but also offers a unique cultural experience for visitors passing through the station, reinforcing Gangneung Station’s role as a dynamic gateway to both travel and creativity.
