아라야 라스잠리안숙은 삶과 죽음, 인간과 동물, 실재와 허구, 정상과 비정상, 제약과 본능 등 다양한 영역과 경계를 탐구하며 우리 주변의 의미를 돌아보게 한다. 이종의 경계를 극복하는 넓은 주제를 탐구하는 작가는 사회에서 소외되는 동물, 망자 그리고 장애인 등의 다양한 존재에 관심을 둔다. 한국에서 처음 선보이는 <개들의 궁전>은 인간과 개의 관계를 들여다보는 작품이다. 작가가 구조한 개들을 키우는 공간을 보여주며, 개들이 그 공간에서 어떤 경험을 하는지 보여준다. 개의 시선에서 그들이 인간과 함께 사는 공간을 어떻게 탐색하고 적응하는지를 살피며 그들의 행동 이면을 상상한다. 작가는 이러한 과정을 통해 개의 삶을 조망해 보고 비인간적 존재가 어떻게 보이지 않는 세계를 감각하고 있는지 이야기한다.
Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook explores a wide range of themes such as life and death, humans and animals, reality and fiction, normality and abnormality, constraints, and instincts, prompting reflections on the meaning of surroundings. The artist puts particular interest in various marginalized positions in society, such as animals, the deceased, and people with disabilities. Dogs’ Palatial House, showcasing in South Korea for the first time, looks into the relationship between humans and dogs. She presents the space shared with the dogs she rescued and shows the experiences of these dogs in relation to the space. The work reimagines the behaviors of the dogs from their own perspective, how they explore and adapt to the space cohabited by the humans. Through this process, Araya Rasdjarmrearnsook retakes on the life of a dog and tells a story of how non-human entities perceive the unseen world around them.

아라야 라스잠리안숙은 치앙마이를 기반으로 국제적으로 활동하는 작가로, 영상, 소설, 시, 예술 비평에 이르는 폭넓은 작업세계를 보여준다. 작가는 삶과 죽음, 인간과 동물, 실재와 허구, 정상과 비정상, 제약과 본능 등 다양한 영역을 탐구하며 우리 주변의 의미를 되돌아보게 한다. 또한 규범적 사회 구조에서 소외되는 동물, 망자, 장애인
등에 관심을 두며, 다양한 존재와 인간 간의 관계를 주목한다.
작가는 테일러 롤린스 파인아트(뉴욕, 2020, 2015)와 스컬프처 센터(뉴욕, 2015), 덴버 미술관(덴버, 2014) 등 전 세계 주요 미술 기관에서 개인전을 열었고, 제17회 이스탄불 비엔날레(2022-2023), 제7회 싱가포르 비엔날레(2022-2023), 제2회 방콕 아트 비엔날레(2020)와 제13회 카셀 도쿠멘타(2012) 등 국제 미술 행사에서 작품을 선보였다.
Araya Rasdjarmearnsook is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and internationally active. The artist exhibits a diverse art world that includes video, novels, poetry, and art criticism. Through explorations spanning themes such as life and death, humans and animals, reality and fiction,
normality and abnormality, constraints, and instincts, her works prompt the viewers to reflect on the meaning of their surroundings. Additionally, she illustrates the idea of relationships between varied beings and humans, having an interest in marginalized animals, the deceased, the disabled, and other individuals excluded by societal norms.
The artist’s recent solo exhibitions at major international art institutions include Taylor Rollins Fine Art(New York, 2020, 2015), the Sculpture Center(New York, 2015) and Denver Art Museum(Denver, 2014). The artist’s artwork also has been exhibited in museums and biennials around the world for over 30 years, including participation in the 7th Singapore
Biennale(2022-2023), the 2nd Bangkok Art Biennale(2020),and dOCUMENTA(13)(2012).
