Venue

Small Theater Dan

Originally built in 1958 as Gangneung’s first church, Small Theater Dan is a historic venue that has been repurposed into a vibrant cultural space. Acquired by the City of Gangneung in the 2010s, the building still retains a stone marker commemorating its original construction, serves as a modern cultural heritage site.
Today, Small Theater Dan operates as a cultural complex, hosting an array of music, theater, and experimental performances. Unlike conventional venues, it is a place where artists and local residents actively collaborate, engaging in the co-creation of performances and shared artistic experiences. Featuring a small stage and an adjustable seating capacity of up to 100, the theater offers an immersive and personal connection between performers and audiences.
As part of GIAF25, Small Theater Dan presents a curated selection including performances, workshops and works by participating artist Yanghee Lee. This initiative transforms the venue into a space of artistic imagination, delivering emotional depth and creative resonance to the audience
