Gangneung Station

As a major railway station in Gangneung, Gangwon-do, Gangneung Station serves as a key transportation hub for the city and its surrounding areas. Since its opening in 1962, it has played a significant role in rail transportation within Gangwon-do. The introduction of the Gyeonggang Line of the KTX (Korea Train eXpress), a high-speed rail system, in preparation for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, has greatly improved accessibility to Seoul. The KTX Gyeonggang Line enables travel from Seoul to Gangneung in approximately two hours, making it a popular choice for many travelers. Gangneung Station is equipped with modern facilities and a range of amenities to ensure the convenience of its users. Additionally, the station provides excellent access to popular tourist attractions such as Gyeongpodae Pavilion, Jeongdongjin, Ojukheon House, and more, establishing itself as a hub for history, culture, and tourism in Gangneung. Its convenient transportation options and accessibility have made Gangneung an essential gateway for both domestic and international tourists.
The PharmaResearch Culture Foundation and Gangneung Station have signed an MOU to connect art with the local community, collaborating to maximize cultural synergy centered on Gangneung Station. As part of the Gangneung International Art Festival 2025(GIAF25), artworks are being displayed at Gangneung Station, making art more accessible to the public and offering a unique experience for visitors to the station.
