Exhibition
GIAF25 focuses on the long-lasting narratives as a thread that weaves from yesterday to today and paves their way through tomorrow. It highlights the rich, millennium-old stories of the Gangneung Danoje, a National Heritage and UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, along with folktales and rituals from various cultures that resonate with the history of communities and individual lives. The festival delves into the element of ‘old stories’ in both micro and macroscopic levels: what makes stories live for a long time, what kind of structures narratives have, and what kind of stories we need in this world. The festival writes a present-perfect-continuous epic together with the artists, experts from various fields, and the audience.
