GIAF
The Gangneung International Art Festival(GIAF) is a regional art festival hosted by a private corporate cultural foundation in Korea.
It is designed to create experiences where people’s lives and art intertwine. Starting in 2022, the festival aims to delve into the unique stories of the Gangneung area, choose meaningful places as venues, and invite artists from Korea and abroad. It strives to evolve into an art festival that everyone can enjoy through various exhibitions and programs.

We are global
Gangneung is located on the east coast along with Taebaek Mountains, the backbone of the Korean Peninsula, and Daegwallyeong(大關嶺), which means ‘a big entrance gate’. An international festival that reflects the trends of contemporary art will be held in Gangneung – the gateway to Korean Peninsula and the faces of Pacific Ocean. Gangneung shows a rich play culture encompassing the modern and contemporary times, such as the Gangneung Danoje Festival, the Sunrise Festival, and the Coffee Festival. Based on the local culture, we aim for inclusiveness and coexistence towards the world.
We are curious
Gangneung has been called the city of manners and academics since ancient times. Great thinkers such as Shin Saimdang, Yulgok Yi, Heo Nanseolheon, and Heo Gyun – Experts in various fields (novelists, scientists, architects, artists, humanities, etc.) live and transform this curiosity into creative energy.
The passion and curiosity for the study remain as a regional identity to this day.

The rich natural environment brings history and life in harmony by discovering and recovering memories of countless stories.Healing from sensation is in line with the establishment grounds of Pharma Research Foundation, which has devoted itself to regenerative medicine to improve the quality of life.
