KIM JAE HYEON

Born in Gangneung, KIM JAE HYEON (b. 1994) was selected through GIAF25’s open call for artists based in the Gangwon region. Moving between Gangneung and Seoul, KIM works across multiplemedias including animated film, digital painting, and drawing. Her artistic practice is centered on transforming personal experiences into abstract imagery and non-linear narratives that delve into the complexities of the inner world. Through her work, she questions the relationship between perception and sensation, consciousness and unconsciousness, challenging conventional ways of seeing and feeling.

KIM’s major solo exhibitions include Mind HOLE HOLE HOLE (Bincan Euljiro, 2023), Collect, Scenery, Fragment (LAZYY, Heyri Artvalley in Paju, 2024), and major group exhibitions include Bodyologies VIII (Ospizio Giovani Artisti, Italy, 2024), and WAVE TO WAVE (Pier Contemporary, 2024). She has been invited to participate in distinguished film festivals worldwide, including the Special Program “cine:east” at the 53rd Sehsuechte International Student Film Festival (Germany, 2024), the Experimental Selection of the 12th Paris International Animation Film Festival (France, 2024), the Short Film Market of the 46th Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival (France, 2024), and the New Talent category of the 7th Festival of Animation Berlin (Germany, 2023)
